Hayl was a senior at Emerson College studying musical theatre. Jake was working for a theatre company and was given a free ticket to a cabaret; Hayl was the first performer. Jake was immediately smitten. He asked if he could buy her a drink, and they kissed at the end of the night.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?There are too many to name, but one that sticks out: New Orleans has always been a special place for us. We once took a river boat down the Mississippi and a Hayl struck up a conversation with a woman sitting next to us. I got up to get us some drinks and when I came back, the woman had gifted Hayl her scarf. When Jake asked “why??” Hayl just said “she wanted me to have it”. It made New Orleans all that more special.
What would you do with $20,000?Hayl is a performer and Jake is a playwright: their lives are anything other than stable. This money would go a long way towards helping us buy an apartment, continue to pursue our dreams, and support each other.
