Connect How did your love story begin?

We met in college. I was a nerdy resident assistant, and she was a popular sorority girl. A friend of mine asked me to be his wing-man to help land a date with her. I knew once I saw her that she would be my girlfriend but I tried my darndest to help my friend out. Once I discovered she wasn't into him the rest was history. The day we met we had a conversation about art and design and despite being in a room full of people it was like no one was there but us.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

I planned the perfect Santorini proposal—on the cliffs of Amoundi Bay, leaping into the sea to symbolize our "leap of faith." Hungover on our last day, she wouldn’t get in. I jumped alone, lost my GoPro, and sloshed back defeated—she wanted to leave. On the trail back, I broke down and blurted, “Nothing’s going right, but I know I want to spend my life with you". We now call it the best and worst day of our lives!

What would you do with $20,000?

We would use it as a down-payment to buy a space to open a community art-gallery and workshop. Helping local students and young creative professionals to create and display work they wouldn't normally be able to due to lack of space, access and know-how.
