We are a quirky interabled couple who love outdoor adventure and advocate for accessibility in nature!
You decide who wins $20,000 and appears in Variety magazine as America’s Favorite Couple
I work as a speech therapist in a trauma hospital and Ian runs a nonprofit promoting accessibility in the outdoors. We met serving on an assistive technology advisory board. After a tour of Ian’s adaptive smart house, I was smitten and made the first move! Our first date was at the Space Needle with a group of Ian‘s friends and I still tease him about how he didn’t work up the nerve to kiss me that day! Given our love for nature and the outdoors, we instantly made for a perfect match!
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?Every December we take a ride (me on my bike, Ian in his chair towing a wagon) to the local tree farm to cut down a Christmas tree and tow it home. We wear holiday gear, string lights, hang ornaments and play Christmas music. Ian works hard to make this day special each year for me since I adore the holidays.
What would you do with $20,000?We are on a fixed income, so vacations are tough for us to plan and organize, especially with accessibility needs and caregivers to consider. We’d love to be able to take an Alaska cruise together to see somewhere we’ve never been and enjoy the beauty Alaska has to offer! We’d also love to begin an addition on Ian‘s house to give us a little more space/flexibility with caregivers coming in and out every day.
