Austin and I met on accident. I was playing a blues show with my band from the twin cities in a rural Wisconsin bar. He sauntered in late to run our sound for the show: he was the sound guy. Barefoot. Unkempt hair. Dirty bandana. Best sound we ever had. I had snuck away for a cigarette between sets and he found me hidden around the corner. Instant friends. 6 months later a musical duo couple that toured some of the country, won music awards, played in Oscar winning movies and still in love.

We’ve shared so many incredible adventures together, it’s hard to pick just one. Maybe it was when we broke down in Colorado with both the rv and van with camper and wrote a song on the side or the road. Maybe it was the time we got to the show and Austin forgot his pants. Maybe it was the time we got our first music award in Las Vegas. But it feels like our best moments are shared on the way to a show somewhere, driving down an unknown backroad and laughing at everything we can think of.

We would take an actual vacation somewhere like other people do. We’d leave all the guitars and gear and stress at home and pack luggage with too much stuff that we don’t need and go see a place we’ve never been. Wed dance to the music of another band. We’d walk on the beach in the moonlight. We’d take in a broadway play or have coffee at a shoppe. We’ve spent 11 years together and worked just about every single weekend and holiday since we started music. So we would take that money and spend it
