I met Ana in Spain. Despite a language barrier, long-distance, and immigration law, we have beat the odds and now live together in Austin.
You decide who wins $20,000 and appears in Variety magazine as America’s Favorite Couple
It started in photography class in Seville, Spain. After a few classes, I noticed that I was the only American that Ana would wave to. After gathering courage, we swapped numbers. Both only speaking our native languages, we started dating with a translator as 3rd wheel. After a couple of dates and nearing Easter, Ana invited me to her town for Semana Santa. Much to her surprise, I said yes with no hesitation, bought a suit from Zara, and got picked up by her sister to be brought to her town.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple? Our favorite memory is the Semana Santa week. Despite not knowing each other long and a language barrier, I met her entire family and immediately integrated into the fold. They treated me as one of their own and I was honored. Since then, our two families have grown close and we have learned each other’s culture and language.
What would you do with $20,000?With 20,000, Ana and I would finish our legal fees for immigration and be able to rent an apartment for ourselves. It would be life changing.
