We met at work, did distance, grew together in our first real relationship; 2 years later, we’re still each other’s favorite person.
We would like to thank you for supporting Ella and Manny in this year's competition. Your participation allows us to aid both the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and Oceana in their respective missions to support hunger relief and ocean conservation.
Our love story began when he took a job near his college campus, where I worked. At first, he avoided me, thinking I’d never be into him and not wanting to risk anything. But I noticed him, and something told me to make the first move. From there, things just clicked. We started talking, laughing, and slowly building something real. What began with hesitation turned into a love that’s grown stronger every day since.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple? Our favorite memory (though there are plenty) is probably meeting each other’s families. Coming from different cultures, we were both nervous, wondering if we’d fit in, if things would feel natural. But from the start, both families were warm and welcoming. It didn’t take long for it to feel like one big extended family. Now, it’s like our two cultures have blended into one; something uniquely ours, and a reminder of how much love and connection we’ve built together.
What would you do with $20,000?If we won the $20K, we’d use it to help us finish college and start saving for a place of our own. It would be a space where I could finally pursue my dream of rescuing animals, and where he’d have room to work on his cars—his dream. It’s something we’ve both talked about for a long time: building a future together that supports who we are and what we love.
