We met at a baseball game, a sport dear to both our hearts! We are loving and supportive of one another no matter the circumstances.
We would like to thank you for supporting ElizaBen in this year's competition. Your participation allows us to aid both the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and Oceana in their respective missions to support hunger relief and ocean conservation.
We met at the Charleston Riverdogs game in June 2023 - his roommate and my friend were set up on a date, and both of us came along as wing-people. WE ended up being the two to hit it off! We spent our first six weeks apart - him in Charleston, and me in Chicago - while I taught reading intervention summer school (I'm a full time second grade teacher but still work in the summer).
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple? Our favorite memories consist of spending the holidays together, but my personal favorite has been meeting his grandmother and seeing him interact with her. I had just lost my grandfather the month before and was still feeling the pain of officially having no grandparents. It was so special to watch them communicate in Spanish (she's a Puerto Rican immigrant) and learn about her upbringing. I am honored that she will join my family, too.
What would you do with $20,000?With $20,000, we would pay off a chunk of Ben's student loans, as his parents did not pay for college (he's the first in his immediate family to attend college!) He has both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees and has worked incredibly hard to try and pay off his education, but the interest rates are terrible, so it's taking longer than expected. I would love to see that he is stress free of this financial burden and can enjoy all that his career has to offer!
