At our local dance hall and saloon, Neon Moon started to play and I think to myself - I’m not missing this song! As I made my way towards the dance floor to find a dancing partner, he rounds the same corner and I blurted - “do you want to dance!?” to which he replied with a very big grinned yes! We danced one, two.. about 6 songs back to back! He wasn’t just a “pretty good” dancer as my friend said, he was talented, and quite handsome, and easy to talk to - we clicked instantly.

Our favorite memory is our first kiss on New Year’s weekend and we had planned separate snowboarding trips with our friends and realized we’re both on the same mountain. We decided to spend the day riding together! New Year’s Eve we hung out with the group, just having a fun time! The clock struck 12 and we had our first kiss - I thought. If you ask Derrick, he says our first kiss was on New Year’s Day! We still laugh telling it since we each have a different moment of it in our hearts.

We would use the prize to open a daycare within our community that provides developmental services rooted in occupational therapy principles. Our goal is supporting children’s functional abilities, promote independence, and enhance overall well-being in a fun and playful way. Funds will help secure a facility, purchase equipment. Our goal and mission is to and offer inclusive, play-based learning aligned with encouraging children of all abilities to be their best as they grow and learn together.
