Connect How did your love story begin?

Daniel followed Jarel on Instagram, not thinking it would lead anywhere. Jarel reached out and they hit it off, finally agreeing to meet. When they did, what was supposed to be a get-to-know you dinner became love at first sight. A long and complicated history ensued, where the two of them worked through trauma and fears from their past relationships. They loved and hurt each other, but made it to the other side. Now, the two of them have been strong and happy together for over two years.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

Their first time traveling overseas together was to the Paris Olympics in 2024. This was a lifelong dream for Daniel and a milestone in their relationship. Being in an unfamiliar place presented challenges, like navigating the metro and terrorist threats, which they overcame by playing to their strengths. The beautiful memories and crazy experiences, like watching volleyball underneath the Eiffel Tower, have brought them even closer, and they still reminisce and joke about the trip almost daily.

What would you do with $20,000?

We are saving to finally get out of our apartment and buy a house. Our shared life is enriched by building something together that's ours, and by working to achieve the American Dream together. $20,000 would go such a long way in making that dream a reality and helping us be on stronger financial footing in this tough economy.
