My shift lead challenged me to invite the new guy to a group event. I said yes, not knowing she and a few others had already made sure we’d end up sitting together that night. One conversation led to another, and a week later, we met again — this time at McDonald’s so we could talk while my kids played. It was the only time they ever begged to leave Playland early. We had been talking for four hours and it felt like fifteen minutes. We could have talked all night.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?It had been a rough, snowed-in week. Cabin fever was in full swing, and by the time we finally made it out for groceries, we were worn thin and getting on each other’s nerves. Then, out of nowhere, a squirrel dashed across the road and tried to leap onto a massive snowdrift. Mid-air, it panicked, spun its tail like a helicopter, and somehow stuck the landing. We stared. Then laughed — hard. In that ridiculous moment, the tension melted. That squirrel didn’t just land, it saved the day!
What would you do with $20,000?We’d finally take the honeymoon we never had—visit the Battleship Texas, explore museums we’ve always dreamed of, and simply enjoy life. After both facing cancer, we’re surviving together with a new outlook. The money would help us celebrate, make memories, and embrace this second chance with joy and gratitude.
