How did your love story begin?

In 1984, I recognized him as a guy I’d meet in the campus café. We were playing Truth or Dare when he approached. He asked a question. I refused to answer. I accepted his dare to go to his room and give him a kiss! I was inwardly shaken by his brass request, but said, let’s go! I was screaming, turn back, in my head. We arrived at his room but never kissed. We talked all night and never went back to the game. We were spotted the next day having breakfast and have been inseparable for 41 years.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

Separated in different States on Valentine’s. Six wks since we’d been together. A blizzard made a 40-minute flight into a 24 hr adventure. The blizzard closed roads to campus. I couldn’t get to him. Undaunted, he took the Greyhound to get as close to campus as possible. Bribed a taxi to defy the State mandate to stay off the roads and bring him10 miles. I heard a knock on my door at 2am. Standing there, soaked, smelly, with ripped pants and a bottle of Champagne was my dream guy.

What would you do with $20,000?

As a family, we have always valued time together and experiences over money and gifts. We would use the money to take a family cruise to celebrate our granddaughter’s high school graduation.
