Connect How did your love story begin?

We worked for the same company and had mutual friends so we knew each other in passing for a year. For my birthday, I had dinner and drinks at his bar before we went to karaoke. He offered to take pictures of me and my friends, put his number in my phone, texted himself, and then paid someone to finish his shift so he could come with us. He sang Motörhead and offered to take me to brunch the next morning. 10 yrs later we are married, have two Great Danes, and just bought our first home!

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

Conner had plans to propose at midnight at one of our favorite bars in NYC on my birthday but 12am came while in an uber and the bar had closed early. Conner improvised on the sidewalk just as the bar door burst open with the last of the patrons, someone yelling “GIRL! Are you getting proposed to!?” They took photos, the bar brought out champagne for us. A houseless man named Ace bought us a Truly. We celebrated, talking about life and love on the curb for hours. A perfectly imperfect proposal!

What would you do with $20,000?

We would help Bri reach her life’s dream of opening her own Sandwich shop! From winning a Rose award for her efforts to feed displaced hospitality workers during covid, to creating a successful food pop up (@poco_502), to partnering with the Louisville Pride Foundation food pantry, and creating a Youth Culinary Education Program… I can’t think of a better way to spend $20,000 than investing in her passion and dedication to keep building community through food.
