Connect How did your love story begin?

We met “in the wild”—a bar in Jersey City! Out with friends and not looking, we locked eyes while ordering drinks. Cait’s best friend snapped a photo, saying, “We’ll show this at your wedding!” From that night on, we never doubted forever. When the time was right, Cait met the kids, and our love story as a family began. Cait finished her doctorate and now works with unhoused families moving through their most difficult moments - believing everyone deserves the same love and safety she found.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

Our favorite memory was surprising our kids with our new home. After living with Rhett's parents for a year, Rhett and Cait were able to find their dream home in Rhett's hometown, in the same neighborhood as Rhett's first home, the only place the children have ever known as "home". We surprised them the afternoon of the closing by bringing them to the house. Amidst confetti, happy tears, and hugs - we found ourselves on the other side of anxiety and ambiguity, settling into happily ever after.

What would you do with $20,000?

With three kids and a doctorate to fund, Rhett and Cait don’t have much left for a wedding. Their dream is a joyful backyard celebration at the home they worked so hard to find. Surrounded by friends and family who’ve supported their journey, they imagine a night full of love, laughter, and dancing. They’re hoping for a little help to tie the knot and make their dream wedding a reality.
