Connect How did your love story begin?

We were in college, and Emma thought for nearly a year that I didn't like her. I in fact had a huge crush on her! We ended up at the same Valentines day party, and I worked up the guts to talk to her. All I came up with was "I think you're really cute," to which she responded in kind. I didn't think I would get that far, so I asked her to join me for a cigarette even though she didn't smoke. I lent her my jacket, lit her a cigarette, and asked "Can I kiss you?" to which she replied "Please do!"

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

It's hard to pick just one! Some favorites include driving across the country together not once, not twice, but three times! It is such a privilege to get to experience new places together, and we make an excellent road trip team. Most recently we went antiquing in Walnut, Iowa, and then stayed in a former refectory in Pittsburgh and had a blast. We also do a lot of dancing in the kitchen while we make dinner together, which is small, but is really a regularly occurring favorite of both of ours.

What would you do with $20,000?

This is cliche, but in all honesty we would get married. We are both working artists living in New York City, so money is tight. We have wanted to tie the knot for quite a while, but have not been able to find the time, or more importantly, the funds. $20,000 is truly more money than either of us can really imagine, and being able to spend that on a ring, wedding, and honeymoon would be unreal.
