Connect How did your love story begin?

We met in 2015 at work. We both worked for Kirby, hardly had anything to our names, and still made it work. Coworkers told me he liked me but I didn’t really believe them - though I kept a mental note of his adoration. A couple weeks go by and we get to talking, lo and behold I find out we have the SAME birthday, just ten years apart. About a week after that, we made things official after he brought me breakfast to my house in the morning and took me bowling that evening. Never looked back.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

After almost 2 years of being homeless together, working hard, going from job to job making $11/hr & taking the bus 2-3hrs each way, we FINALLY got approved for our first apartment in 2017. We held our breath until we had keys in hand and watched the manager drive away; we walked back inside, and began to jump & yell in excitement - which slowly turned into hugging walls and low sobs, & eventually both on our knees, hugging each other, thanking one another & thanking God. It was just beautiful.

What would you do with $20,000?

With $20,000 we would be eternally grateful to have the chance to not only get that much closer to being able to own our own home and give our kids a backyard after renting for 8 years , but we would also take half of the money and put it into our 501c3 to help fund even more resources for our clients that are local at-risk youth, unhoused people, & low-income families. We would be able to supply every standing client for a year, plus expand our reach and serve an extra 21% of people in-need.
