How did your love story begin?

Brooks and I both graduated from Clemson University. I just happened to be walking by his tailgate heading to meet some friends at a football game when he and his sister noticed me. She and I were friends so we stopped and chatted. He began asking me questions about how much longer I had in school and he actually made the comment…”Well, I will wait on you”. I laughed at such an early “proposal” and eventually wrote my number down on a napkin. We had our first date September 17, 1998.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

Brooks and I have 3 beautiful children and each birth together was precious. Brooks wrote a beautiful poem in honor of our first child titled “Dear Penny”, and it was soon published in a national book of poetry. Brooks continues to bless me with poetry in honor of our marriage…his last one was titled “Always Kiss Her Goodbye”. Both of these poems are framed and hung in our bedroom so we can see them as we get ready for the day.

What would you do with $20,000?

Brooks and I have lived in our very first house since 2001. I would love to do some home improvements…build a screened in porch where we can enjoy mornings and evenings together drinking coffee in the morning and just enjoying the sounds of the night and laugh together. I would also love to throw a dinner in honor of the 25 year journey we have been on together!
