How did your love story begin?

We met in the early morning hours of July 17, 1983. I was a young private in the United States Army. It was a Sunday morning and I was rarely in the barracks on a Sunday morning. My wife had just broken up with her boyfriend that morning. It was the one and only boyfriend she had ever had and she broke up with him on his birthday. Our best friends then conspired to get us together at that opportune moment. We met and dance the night away. Two months later, we were married.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

I would say the very first dinner that I made for my wife in our cheesy little apartment in Waipahu Hawaii. We were so poor. Our dining table was from the Salvation Army thrift shop. Our table where was plastic plates and plastic cutlery. We sat and had a candlelight dinner of stuffed Cornish game, hands with wild rice and a vegetable medley. She dressed in an evening gown, and I wore a suit and tie. It was a genuine moment between us.

What would you do with $20,000?

We would love to fly to Paris for dinner.
