Connect How did your love story begin?

We met in 2016—Brock as a PA, Betyel as an intern he hired after one Skype call where we started laughing before even saying hello. The connection was instant, but we were both in relationships, so we became close friends. Years later, each newly single and long-distance, we reconnected. After a special birthday visit, Betyel sent Brock a handwritten letter that started with: “You better call me right after you read this.” Brock knew it was a love letter, he called, and the rest is history!

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

Early in our relationship, while still long distance, Betyel visited Brock in Portland. We went to an amusement park, roller skated, then drove to the coast. Caught in the rain on the beach, we ran back laughing and warmed up in a wood fire hot tub at our Airbnb—a glammed-up camper trailer. It was cozy, spontaneous, and magical. That night set the tone for a love full of wonder, laughter, and unforgettable adventures.

What would you do with $20,000?

As a young family with a 1½-year-old daughter, this money would be a meaningful start to our journey together. We’d use it to help pay for preschool and invest wisely in her future—giving her the strongest foundation we can. It’s not just about the money; it’s about building a life full of love, learning, and opportunity for the little person who means the world to us.
