Connect How did your love story begin?

Ella and I met on Tinder—not the typical start to a “true love” story. We had both recently exited toxic relationships & weren’t looking for anything too serious. (for good reason!) But from first meeting, we both knew that was going to change. We lived an hour apart, so we took turns each weekend driving to Ella’s dorm (at TWU) or Aubrie’s Dad’s house to see each other regularly. Ella was living hours from her home in San Antonio, and Aubrie was still living with her Dad outside of Dallas, TX.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

Our favorite memory together is our first big trip alone—ACL festival in Austin, Tx. Aubrie hadn’t come out to father yet, so she had to disguise the trip. It was the first time Ella & Aubrie had stayed in a big city away from home. Austin, who is always keepin’ it weird, was like a whole new world to us. Seeing the queer representation literally everywhere gave us hope for a future. We saw our first drag show together, there. We knew we wanted to live somewhere like this.

What would you do with $20,000?

We are currently finishing up college in Dallas, TX. With the $20,000, we would likely pay off part of our loans right now. With the rest, we would be smart about it, and put it in an earnings account until we can use it to move to the east coast, where LGBTQ+ members are more widely accepted. We have big dreams of working near NYC.
