Our love story began the way most modern love stories do- online! I was hooked by KB’s gorgeous smile and witty words while KB was drawn in by my eyes and travel photos. Our first date was just a week later and was a day long adventure- three dates in one really! I was in Law School and she was traveling for work, so we were long distance but that didn’t stop us from spending as much time as possible together. We flirted via text, email, and many loooong phone calls.

Favorite shared memory is our engagement in Edinburgh. KB planned ahead for a video/photographer and surprised me on Calton Hill with a panorama of the city below. We were gifted with a gorgeous sunny day- so uncharacteristic of the gloomy city. She designed my beautiful ring months in advance and it’s stunning- I can’t stop smiling. We whisked off for a castle tour after and it was magic. We may not look like a traditional fairytale couple- but our love is absolutely written in the stars.

Our $20,000 will go straight to our wedding in Fall of 2026. We’re having our ceremony in a gorgeous woodsy chapel and we’ll spend the next night celebrating at our favorite restaurant downtown KC- Farina. We joke about Farina being our happy place- their food and drinks put anyone in a great mood! We’ll be surrounded by our family, friends, and fabulous queer community for a night spent showing what love can cultivate- even in the face of adversity and ignorance. Our love is worth celebrating!
