We met in our forties, so we don’t take our bond for granted. Kechi is an actor/performer/educator, and I’m a writer, performer and teacher!

We traded messages on Tinder and Facebook that never went anywhere, but I knew Kechi was a fantastic photographer from all the photos she took of New Orleans comedians. I hired her to take my author photos after I got my first book deal, and then the next summer, she messaged me to ask if she and her friend could come swim at my pool. We clicked then, and we've been together ever since.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?Our wedding day. We were married at Bar Redux, a New Orleans dive bar where we've both done standup numerous times. Our officiant was a burlesque-dancer friend, and the wedding was a simple quiet ceremony with family and a few trusted friends. It was very New Orleans and very us.
What would you do with $20,000?We would travel to Nigeria for our traditional wedding. The traditional wedding is important to Kechi's father and the rest of her family, and it's been a great dream of mine to visit that country, and I've just never had the opportunity--or the resources.
