Connect How did your love story begin?

We’re highschool sweethearts, an American classic. At the end of our junior year, the sun beating down in our faces as we went in a run, he wanted to ask me a question. I immediately said no, because at the time I thought I was hilarious— and watched in real time as his heart broke into a million pieces. I finally understood what he was trying to ask and jumped around like we were getting engaged. Even at my sweatiest, he took my hand.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

It was home-coming, and I was in some weird black tool dress. He hates suits, but god he looked so good in one. It wasn’t long before we grew tired of the strobe lights and restless noise, and found ourselves retreating into the parking lot. Just as we were about to get in his Saab, an idea struck me. Why should the fun have to stop, just because we left the cafeteria? I turned on a song that reminded me of us and he spun me round until I was dizzy. I’ve never felt more like a princess.

What would you do with $20,000?

10,000 would go to our savings together. We’re both in different colleges at the moment, but we’re hoping to get an apartment (or even house if we’re lucky!) once we graduate. The other 10,000 will go causes we champion, like animal welfare, Internet privacy, social welfare, and mental health.
