My husband and I met when we began our personal journey in recovery. We were told we would never make it…. 17 years with many more to come
You decide who wins $20,000 and appears in Variety magazine as America’s Favorite Couple
My husband and I met at a local support meeting for those in recovery. We became friends first and then noticed a mutual goal within each other wanting to do better for ourselves and overcome the stigma placed on a recovering addict. Initially there was a lot of late night phone calls and texts but this quickly transformed into a growing relationship willing to overcome the odds that were stacked against us. After six months of dating we were married.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple? My marriage is full of memories. From our early dating to the day we made the commitment to be each others better half. After one month of marriage we were awarded custody of my husbands 3 children and became a family of 5. Through that transition we continued to support each other. He was ever present as I gained my BS and then Masters degrees. In 2015 when he was diagnosed with colon cancer we grew even stronger. Last year his cancer returned and we maintained our love for each other
What would you do with $20,000?So much! First we would take a trip abroad. My late mother in law succumbed to her battle with colon cancer last year while my husband was in his own fight and she loved to travel. We had wanted to honor her memory and make a trip to Europe. Then of course we have grandchildren that we would take to Disney World. We are all about making memories and not just buying items that will eventually be discarded or overlooked.
