How did your love story begin?

We were working together in the veterans community and he was finalizing his divorce and I was starting mine, which he knew was happening because as he would tell you, I have no poker face. He bugged me for weeks to go to dinner as friends because he knew I needed support and we stayed up on the phone all night long like teenagers even after we made it back to our separate homes. It wasn't long before I was meeting his beautiful kids and we were dating.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

My favorite memory was when he proposed to me. We had both decided prior to this that we were not going to get married again, especially after the messy marriages and divorces we had prior to this and we were just going to enjoy each other as we were. We went out to dinner and as we were leaving, I thought he fell and hurt his ankle, but there he was on one knee asking me to marry him. I must have asked him a million times if he was sure. He said to me I d ever do anything I am not sure of.

What would you do with $20,000?

I would put it away towards our retirement idea which is to move to Hawaii in the next few years once the kids are graduated. We visited recently and it just felt like home to us. It has many supports for my husband who is a Marine Corps Veteran and we can continue to live out our love story in paradise. I have never wanted to move anywhere, but he makes me want to try everything and do everything and be adventurous. I have been a whole new person these past 6 years and I am loving life with him
