How did your love story begin?

Our daughters became best friends when they joined color guard. I had just come out of a bad marriage and Jay had lost his wife to breast cancer. Jay and I texted about the girls but had never met in person due to my work schedule. One night, I had the girls and had to drop them off to him. I walked them up to his door and when he opened the door our eyes met for the first time. His texts became more frequent and soon he expressed interest in wanting to take me out.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

It was one night, when we had first started dating. Jay called me and said he was driving over to my house. (It was probably about 9:30) I ran out to the driveway to meet him so my daughter didn’t know since we had not let the girls know we were dating. While we were out there, we look back, and my daughter is standing at the window looking through the blinds at us. . . Apparently on the phone with HIS daughter saying “We have a situation, why is your dad at my house!?” Busted!

What would you do with $20,000?

I’d set aside a portion to invest in our children’s education, because nothing feels more meaningful than helping build a future for the ones we love. Then, I’d plan something special to celebrate our 10-year anniversary: a cruise with my husband, to reflect, reconnect, and mark a decade of love, growth, and partnership. We wouldn’t go alone, I’d bring along our two daughters, who quite literally brought us together. It would be the chance to create lasting memories with those responsible for us
