Connect How did your love story begin?

On Christmas Eve I returned to the BBQ Hut, where Vijai was working. He called out to greet me & said that he had something important to say. “The first day he saw me, he had fallen in love” & asked permission to kiss me. I said, Yes!” He told me he’d been praying to God for my return to profess his love. He had 6 days left to return to his homeland. We spent every moment together. We decided a few hours before his flight that we could not be apart, & that decision has forever changed our lives.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

Honestly, every day is full of love & new memories we share with one another. It’s hard to define what our favorite is. But the memory that truly touches our hearts every day is when Vijai is home & I arrive home from work. Vijai would open the door, wait, come out with a huge smile on his face, and greet me with hugs & kisses. It is so adorable. It makes me feel so special and him so happy to see his beautiful wife. Those are precious moments we would forever hold in our hearts.

What would you do with $20,000?

Vijai has a dream to become a head chef and wants to open up his Creole West Indian restaurant. As his wife, I support his dreams, & I would love to share his talent & love for cooking with others. This opportunity would help jumpstart his dreams to make them a reality! We would start off small & build with the $20,000 & open up a food truck in NYC. “One, one dutty build dam.” - A Guyanese saying.
