I can only characterize our love as being a deep affection with respect for one another. We cheer each other on and hold each other up.
We would like to thank you for supporting Jeff and Melissa in this year's competition. Your participation allows us to aid both the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and Oceana in their respective missions to support hunger relief and ocean conservation.
We met in a place most people don’t dream of finding love—a recovery program. But maybe that’s exactly where love like ours could be born: raw, real, and ready to rise from the ashes. Jeff stood out from the beginning. There was something about him—so unique, so genuinely sweet—that it threw me off balance a little. He made me nervous in the best way, like my heart already knew he was going to matter. And he did.
What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple? There were moments that marked our journey in big, unforgettable ways. Our wedding, the day we promised to keep choosing each other. The long, dark days of his battle with cancer—and the overwhelming relief and gratitude when he beat it. And the unshakable strength of our shared sobriety, a quiet victory we wake up to every single day. It’s been 12 years of marriage now. Not always easy, but always worth it. And through it all, we’ve kept the most important vow of all: to never stop loving.
What would you do with $20,000?If we win, we’re putting the $20,000 toward a down payment on a home. After 12 years of marriage, beating cancer, and staying strong in our recovery journey, we want to put down roots—something that’s ours, where we can build new memories and a stable future together. This isn’t just about buying a house; it’s about creating a safe, sacred home.
