How did your love story begin?

Our story didn’t begin in some fairytale setting. No candlelit dinners or long walks under the stars… or any romance in the traditional sense. Our story started in the ashes as We met in rehab. Two broken people, both at the lowest points in our lives, sitting in the wreckage of addiction, pain, and loss. We had both just been through hell and barely made it out breathing. It wasn’t a glamorous a place, but somehow in the healing; something sacred began without even touching each other.

What is your favorite memory you've shared as a couple?

There are sooo many memories, but One of my favorite memories of us as a couple is the week we spent in Arkansas with our grandbabies in 2021. Watching him be the gentlest, most loving “BopBop” to my baby girl’s babies absolutely melted my heart. It was a glimpse of love in its purest form — and I’ll cherish it forever. They adore him as well.

What would you do with $20,000?

I’d pay off debt and finally give us the wedding we never had. When we got married 13 years ago, there was no aisle, no dress, no celebration—just a quiet “yes” in the middle of real-life responsibilities. Parenthood and survival came first, and we sacrificed the dream of a wedding for the sake of building a life. But next year, on our 13th anniversary, we’re going back to the moment where love triumphed over lack. We’re planning a ceremony to finally celebrate with the people who love us.
